Penticton Vees Sign Former Vipers Affiliated Player Evers:

The Western Hockey League Penticton Vees have signed former Vernon

Vipers affiliated player/forward Ryden Evers.

Evers played the 2024-25 season with the BCHL Penticton Vees.  In 54 games last season, Evers collected (24-goals-36-assists-60-points) lead the Vees in scoring.

Evers played the previous two seasons with the Surrey Eagles. The Eagles traded Evers to Sherwood Park August 2nd 2024. The Sherwood Park Crusaders traded Evers to Penticton August 3rd 2024.

Evers had committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for the 2025-26 season.

Evers was an affiliated player with the 2021-22 Vernon Vipers. Evers was added to the Vipers reserve roster in late October/early November 2021. Evers made his Vipers debut March 23rd 2022 in a 10-3 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters. Evers played 1 game with the 2021-22 Vernon Vipers.

Fort Wayne Komets Add Former Vernon Viper Tufto To Season-Ending Roster:

The ECHL Fort Wayne Komets announced the team’s season-ending

roster from the 2024-25 season. This is the second of a several-step process that teams use to begin building their rosters for the 2025-26 season. The Komets have twenty players listed on the team's season-ending roster, one is former Vernon Vipers forward Odeen Tufto.

The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a minor professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams across the United States and Canada. Competitively, it is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league serves as a farm system to the AHL and the National Hockey League (NHL).

Tufto played the 2024-25 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets, his first season with the Komets. The Komets signed Tufto August 6th 2024. In 36 games last season, Tufto collected (12-goals-26-assists-38-points).

The Komets are Tufto's seventh team since 2021.

Tufto played four seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2017-2021 before signing his first professional contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning March 31st 2021. The Lightning assigned Tufto to the American Hockey League Syracuse Crunch after his college season ended in 2021. Tufto has never played a game with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

HC Davos has decided not to extend the

contract with former Vernon Lakers forward Glen Metropolit.

Metropolit has spent the past three seasons as an Assistant Coach with HC Davos. HC Davos is a professional Swiss ice hockey team based in Davos, Switzerland.

Metropolit retired from professional hockey in 2017. Metropolit last played professional hockey with the HCB Foxes. Metropolit left the team for family reasons during the 2016-17 season. The HCB Foxes or also known as Hockey Club Bolzano-Bozen Foxes is an Italian ice hockey team located in the city of Bolzano, South Tyrol, that plays in the Austrian Hockey League.

Metropolit got into coaching in 2020, was Head Coach of Jenkins High in Florida for the 2020-21 season and an Assistant Coach in Turkey during the 2021-22 season.

Metropolit was inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame in November 2019 & HC Lugano Hall of Fame in 2023. Hockey Club Lugano, often abbreviated to HC Lugano or HCL, is a professional ice hockey club based in Lugano, Switzerland. The team competes in the National League (NL)

Metropolit was never drafted played eight seasons in the NHL from 1999-2003 & 2006-2010 with seven different teams (Washington, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, St. Louis, Boston, Philadelphia & Montreal) One season in the ECHL with Nashville, three seasons in the IHL with (Quebec, Atlanta & Grand Rapids), seven seasons overseas playing with five different teams (EV Zug, HC Lugano, SC Bern, Adler Mannheim & HC Bolzano) in three different leagues (NLA, DEL & EBEL). Metropolit was also captain for Team Canada at the 2014 Spengler Cup.

Metropolit played one season in Vernon with the 1994-95 Vernon Lakers. In 60 games with the Lakers, Metropolit lead the team in scoring with (43-goals-74-assists-117-points).

The Vernon Vipers will open the 2025 preseason September 5th at home vs the visiting Cranbrook Bucks.

The Vernon Vipers went 1-3-0-0 vs the Cranbrook Bucks last season.

Icemen Add Vipers Alumni Coughlin To Season-Ending Roster:

the University of Manitoba for the 2025-26 season.

Brennan split the 2024-25 season with the Vernon Vipers & Sherwood Park Crusaders. 

Brennan started the 2024-25 season with the Vernon Vipers. The Sherwood Park Crusaders traded Lucas Brennan to the Vernon Vipers June 26th 2024 for defenceman Linden Burrett and future considerations. The Vernon Vipers traded Lucas Brennan to the Blackfalds Bulldogs December 5th 2024 for future considerations and the playing rights to forward Layne Loomer and defenceman Rylan Bonkowski. named former Vernon Vipers Head Coach/GM Mike Vandekamp new Head Coach/GM.

Vandekamp didn't coach during the 2024-25 season. Vandekamp last coached the Cowichan Capitals during the 2023-24 season.

Vandekamp played three years of Junior hockey in Fort St. John and Prince George from 1990-1993 before getting into coaching in 1995. Vandekamp made his coaching debut with the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League Fort St. John Huskies in 1995. Vandekamp has coached in the RMJHL, BCHL, AJHL & WHL for the past twenty nine seasons with nine teams (Fort St. John, Fernie, Merritt, Vernon, Nanaimo, Powell River, Prince George, Grande Prairie & Cowichan).

renewed the contract of former Vernon Vipers forward Luke Pierce.

Pierce has spent the past seven seasons as Assistant Coach/Head Coach of the Western Hockey League Edmonton Oil Kings. Pierce was named Assistant Coach July 23rd 2018 and named Head Coach July 25th 2022.

Pierce spent five seasons playing at Royal Military College from 2004-2009 before returning to the BCHL in 2009 as an Assistant Coach & Head Coach with the Merritt Centennials. Pierce spent six seasons as Head Coach-GM of the Merritt Centennials from 2009-2015. Pierce was named BCHL Interior Conference Coach of the year in 2013. Pierce was an assistant coach with Canada’s national men’s under-17 team in 2016 & an assistant coach for Team Canada/Team Red at the 2017 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge. Pierce was an assistant coach for Canada’s National Sledge Team at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang. Pierce spent two seasons as Head Coach with the Western Hockey League's Kootenay Ice before being fired June 2 2017.

Pierce played his first two seasons in the BCHL with his hometown Merritt Centennials before being traded to Vernon in his final year of Junior hockey. Pierce played one season in Vernon with the 2003-04 Vernon Vipers. The Merritt Centennials traded Luke Pierce to Vernon June 10th 2003 for future considerations. In 53 games with the Vipers Pierce collected (7-goals-21-assists-28-points).

Naylor spent the past two seasons as Head Coach/GM of the United States Premier Hockey League Rock Springs Grizzlies, was recently named Vice  President/General Manager of the United States Premier Hockey League Grand Junction River Hawks. The River Hawks are an expansion team.

Naylor was named the new owner of the USPHL Iron County Yeti in August 2024 but was still the General Manager of the Rock Springs Grizzlies. No official press release on what happened with Naylor and the Yeti.

Naylor was suspended during the 2021-22 season by Hockey Canada for breaking the Coach's Conduct Policy. Naylor spent four seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers from 2017-2022 as Head Coach/GM, Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations.

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League OCN Blizzard had hired Naylor in July 2022,  but Naylor was suspended by Hockey Canada for breaking the Coach's Conduct Policy and had not been reinstated at the time.

Naylor played three seasons in the COHL, CHL, SUHL, PHL, WCHL & NAL from 1993-1996 with six different teams, before retiring from professional hockey in 1996. Naylor was a Scout and been coaching since 2005. Naylor was Head Coach/GM of the PIJHL Delta Ice Hawks from 2016-2018 before joining the Nanaimo Clippers in 2017.

Naylor played parts of one season in Vernon with the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers. Naylor was traded to Vernon during the 1989-90 season. The Lakers were Naylor's third team in his final season of Junior hockey. In 20 games with the Lakers, Naylor collected (8-goals-27-assists-35-points).

Taylor was invited to the Dallas Stars development camp.

Taylor split the 2024-25 season with Clarkson University & the American Hockey League Texas Stars.In 39 games with Clarkson, Taylor collected (9-goals-20-assists-29-points). In 10 games with the Stars, Taylor collected (0-goals-1-assist-1-point).

Taylor played the past three seasons at Clarkson University, was signed by the Dallas Stars to a two-year entry-level contract March 24th 2025. The American Hockey League Texas Stars signed Taylor to an amateur tryout March 25th 2025.

Taylor was named to the ECAC Hockey's First-Team All-Conference team & named Best Defensive Defenseman. Taylor was nominated for the 2025 Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

Taylor was invited to the Philadelphia Flyers Development Camp in July 2024.

Taylor played three seasons in Vernon with the Vipers from 2018-2021 before leaving for the United States Hockey League Youngstown Phantoms. The Phantoms selected Taylor 31st overall May 28th 2021 in Round 3 in Phase 2 of the Unites States Hockey League Draft. Taylor played the 2021-22 season with the Phantoms before joining Clarkson University in 2022.

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk has

committed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for the 2025-26 season.

Dowhaniuk split the 2024-25 season with the Western Hockey League Prince George Cougars, Moose Jaw Warriors, Red Deer Rebels and BCHL Vernon Vipers.

Dowhaniuk played parts of the past six seasons with the Western Hockey League Prince George Cougars before being released late September 2024. The Vernon Vipers traded future considerations to the Victoria Grizzlies October 1st 2024 for the playing rights of Keaton Dowhaniuk. Dowhaniuk played in 11 games left the Vernon Vipers November 12th 2024 to return to the Western Hockey League. Dowhaniuk joined the Moose Jaw Warriors November 15th 2024. In 11 games with the Vernon Vipers, Dowhaniuk collected (1-goal-4-assists-5-points).

Holland has been inducted into the Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation Wall of Honour.

Holland among Wall of Honour’s Class of 2025 – TAKING NOTE


Holland has spent the past twenty two seasons as an Amateur Scout with the Dallas Stars.


Holland played three seasons with the Western Hockey League Portland Winterhawks from 1986-1989 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Adirondack Red Wings in 1989. Holland played seven seasons in the American Hockey League and IHL with ten different teams, also played three seasons in Germany with two different teams before retiring from professional hockey in 1998.

Holland played one season with the 1985-86 Vernon Lakers. In 51 games, Holland collected (43-goals-62-assists-105-points).

The Vernon Lakers were one of seven different team names Vernon's junior hockey team has had since 1961. The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.
