Three former Vernon Vipers meet in the ECHL Western Conference Quarterfinals (Best of Five) Playoffs as former Vernon Vipers defenceman, Cameron Brodie and the Stockton Thunder face former Vernon Vipers forward, Patrick Cey along with former Vipers defenceman, Isaac Smeltzer and the Colorado Eagles. Brodie and the Thunder lead the best of series 2-0 with a 3-1 win in Game 1 and a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 2 with a chance to sweep the series with Game 3 going tonight in Colorado.
Patrick Cey is in his first season with the Eagles. In 53 regular season games Cey picked up 7 goals-12 assists & 20 points but is pointless in the opening round of the ECHL Playoffs. Cey played two years in Vernon (2005-2007) In 73 regular season games with the Vipers Cey collected (31-35-66).

Isaac Smeltzer is in his first season with the Eagles after recently signing with Colorado back on March, 14th 2012. Smeltzer picked up one assist in eleven regular season games with the Eagles but has yet to record a point in the Playoffs. Smeltzer just completed his fourth season at Brock University. Smeltzer played his first three and a half seasons in the BCHL with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before being traded to Vernon in his final season of Junior hockey (2007-2008). Alberni Valley traded Smeltzer to Vernon on November, 29th 2007 for forward, Evan Witt and defenceman, Eliot Raibl. Smeltzer collected (6-17-23) in 29 regular season games with the Vipers.

Cameron Brodie is in his second season with the Thunder, also played three games with the AHL Texas Stars this season before returning to Stockton. Brodie is pointless in the first two playoff games. Brodie played parts of one season in Vernon (2008-2009) after being aquired from the Coquitlam Express at the BCHL trade deadline.
