Former Vernon Vipers defenceman, Cameron Brodie and the ECHL Stockton Thunder eliminated former Vernon Vipers (forward) Patrick Cey and (defenceman) Isaac Smeltzer & the Colorado Eagles in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal Friday with a 4-2 victory winning the best of series in three games. The Thunder will now meet the defending Kelly Cup champion Alaska Aces in the second round (Western Conference Semifinal) of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs which begins with Game 1 Friday night.
Cameron Brodie is in his second season with the Thunder, also played three games with the AHL Texas Stars this season before returning to Stockton. In 52 regular season games with the Thunder Brodie collected (0-7-7) but is pointless in three playoff games. Brodie played parts of one season in Vernon (2008-2009) after being aquired from the Coquitlam Express at the BCHL trade deadline.

STOCKTON, Calif. –
The Stockton Thunder has advanced to the second round (Western Conference Semifinal) of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs for the third time in four seasons and will open the second round against the first seed Alaska Aces in a best of seven series (2-3-2 format), beginning with Game 1 on Friday, Apr. 13 at 8:15 p.m. from Sullivan Arena.
Kelly Cup Playoff tickets start as low as $7 per seat and range to $28 (glass seats and club) and round by round ticket packages are available by calling (209) 373-1500. Individual playoff tickets for the second round at Stockton Arena will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Apr. 9 and can be purchased at the Stockton Arena Ticket Office, by phone at (209) 373-1700 or online at www.Ticketmaster.com.
The Thunder, earning the #5 seed in the Western Conference, finished 5-5-0 this season against the defending Kelly Cup champion Aces (winning five times in the final six meetings) and the teams last met in the playoffs in the 2010 National Conference Quarterfinal, a best of five series won by Stockton, 3-1.
