Former Viper Les Reaney's Season Ends In Semifinal Game 6 Overtime Loss:

Former Vernon Vipers forward, Les Reaney and the CHL Rapid City Rush fell short in Game 6 of the CHL Turner Conference Semi-Finals after a 4-3 overtime loss Tuesday night vs the Fort Wayne Komets. Reaney and the Rush's season comes to an end falling in six games. Reaney played parts of two seasons in Vernon (2002-2004) after coming over to the Vipers in a trade with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Reaney was then traded to Williams Lake during the 2003-2004 season. Reaney has spent parts of the last five seasons with the Rush. In 52 regular season games with the Rush this season, Reaney collected 14 goals, 30 assists & 44 points.

Rush Season Ends With 4-3 Overtime Loss in Game #6

(Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush made a valiant effort to force a game #7 of the Turner Conference Semifinals and extend their 2011-12 season on Tuesday night. After scoring a late goal to force overtime, the Rush seemed poised to do so, but the Fort Wayne Komets potted the game-winner just 51 seconds in for the 4-3 triumph.

The Komets got on the board first when Jamie Lovell’s outlet from his own zone somehow snuck past Rush goaltender Tim Boron 4:42 seconds into the game. Fort Wayne was able to double the lead at the 11:56 mark after dominating the Rush in the own end and eventually setting up a point-blank chance for Brent Henley for his first point of the postseason. Five minutes later, Dave Grimson’s shot from the point was deflected in by Les Reaney to cut the lead in half and give the Rush momentum heading into the second period.

Eight minutes into the middle frame, the Rush evened the score at 2-2 when Konrad Reeder’s reverse from behind the net set up Scott Wray for the captain’s third goal of the playoffs.

It took until the 16:00 mark of the final period, but the deadlock was broken open when Jean-Michel Rizk’s backhander from the slot gave Fort Wayne a 3-2 lead with just four minutes left. In the final two minutes of regulation, and with the goaltender pulled, the Rush received a redirection goal from Konrad Reeder to force overtime.

Just 51 seconds into overtime, Colin Chaulk tapped in a centering pass to pick up the 4-3 win and advance the Komets to the Turner Conference Finals against the Missouri Mavericks.
