Vernon Vipers forward Darren Nowick has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 1, the league announced on Monday.
Nowick came up big for the Snakes in the opening game of the 2011 RBC Cup against the host Camrose Kodiaks. The Long Beach, Calif. native scored a goal and set up two others including the game-winning tally by Michael Zalewski as Vernon double up Camrose 4-2 at Edgeworth Centre.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound forward came in to the RBC Cup with three goals and seven assists since the postseason began. His showing in the first game has him currently alone at the top of the tournament scoring list and earned him a Player of the Game nod.
Honourable mentions go to Zalewski and John Knisley who each had a goal and an assist in the win.
