When hockey players join the Vernon Vipers, they do more than play hockey. They become part of the life of the community.
They provide role models for children and youths; they participate in local charities and other events; and they act as unofficial ambassadors of this city.
The Vipers are quite aware of their role in the life of the community, a role that most of them accept eagerly. However, they join the Viper organization with goals of their own. Many of them hope to play pro hockey; most of them seek an athletic scholarship at a well known NCAA school.
With eyes on the present, the past, and the future, this series of articles called “Departing Heroes” will tell you about seven players who have played their last game of Jr. hockey.
Over the next few weeks, in alphabetical order, this series will feature Bryce Kakoske, Malcolm Lyles, Kyle Murphy, David Robinson, Adam Thompson, Dylan Walchuk, and Steven Weinstein.
