Former Vernon Vipers goaltender, Lucas Gore has been named the CHL goaltender of the week. Gore played one season with the Vipers (2007-08)

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Lucas Gore of the Chilliwack Bruins is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 6. He posted an impressive 4-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory and made 120 saves with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .968.

Gore opened the week with a 22-save performance as part of a 3-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday, before earning his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets on Friday. In that contest, Gore stopped all 29 shots he faced and was named first star of the game. He got the call to start between the pipes the next two nights and posted a 4-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday with 26 saves, and then made 43 saves as second star of a 6-2 win over the Portland Winterhawks to finish his week on Sunday.

Gore, a 20-year-old from Kamloops, BC, is playing in his third full WHL season with the Bruins. This season he has earned a career-high 28 wins in 58 games and has made the second most saves in the WHL with 1,728.

JP Anderson of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors was also considered after earning OHL Player of the Week honours with two shutouts in three games. He posted a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .960 to go along with his three victories. Evan Mosher of the PEI Rocket went 2-0-0-1 including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 2.21 and save percentage of .933.
