The St. Louis Blues have assigned former Vernon Vipers defenseman Tyson Strachan to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Strachan played one season in Vernon (2002-03).

Peoria, IL - St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled defenseman Ian Cole from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the club assigned defenseman Tyson Strachan to Peoria.
Cole, 22, has appeared in 13 games for the Blues this season serving 23 penalty minutes. With Peoria, the 6'1, 221-pound defenseman has dressed in 39 games recording 13 points including five goals and eight assists. The Ann Arbor, Michigan native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Strachan, 26, has appeared in four games for the Rivermen this season recording one assist. The 6-2, 215-pound defenseman has also dressed in 28 games for the Blues notching one assist and serving 34 penalty minutes. The Melfort, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by Carolina in the fifth round, 137th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed by the Blues as a free agent on October 9, 2008.
