The Dauphin Kings have acquired 95 goaltender Jarrod Schamerhorn in a 3 way trade.

The Dauphin Kings are excited to announce they have acquired 20 year old goaltender, Jarrod Schamerhorn in a three way trade from the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. In the deal the Kings sent 20 year defenceman, Ryan Coghlin to the Merrit Centennials.

Schamerhorn, listed at 6.02, 190lbs, spent last season with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. In 41 games the Victoria, BC native posted a 2.71 Goal Against Average and a .907 Save Percentage.

Schamerhorn spent time in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Portland Winterhawks, the team that went all the way to the Memorial Cup in 2013.

“We needed to upgrade our starting goalie.” said Kings Head Coach/GM Marlin Murray. “Jarrod brings size and a lot of experience to our net. We are excited to add him to our hockey club.”

Schamerhorn is expected to join the Kings in time for the MJHL Showcase this weekend.

The Kings would like to welcome Jarrod and his family to the City of Sunshine.

Im not surprised the Vipers pulled off two trades-added two players to their roster today. With the team struggling early to start the season and then Last week announced Brendan Barry & Zach Andrusiak were in town skating-practising with the team I knew something was in works. Don Klepp said last weekend at one of the Viper games in Chilliwack that Barry was still with the Vipers. Usally after three or four days the coaches get a good look at a new player and make their decision by then. With Barry still skating-practising with the Vipers, I had a funny feeling one of the Vipers goaltenders were going to get traded. I was a little surprised they made a trade this early in the season but I guess with Barry skating with the team, Mark Ferner's hands were tied and he had to make a move soon or Barry would leave-join another team real soon. Andrusiak is 19 a veteran player that put up good numbers playing Junior B in Armstrong. I wasnt to surprised to see Nicholas Rasovic go, he hasnt done much this year, For a veteran player, the Vipers needed more from him this year as a 19 yr old. I was surprised to see Michael Roberts not traded actually. I havent seen anything in him yet this year. For a 20 yr old he has to be one of your best players each game, hes taking up a valuable spot for a 20 yr old not producing. Will we see him traded or released next? With the Vipers sitting at 500 and looking sub par I dont think Mark is done trading just yet. After the win over Chilliwack two weekends back I said this five game road trip will show us-tell the Vipers coaching staff who this team really is and what they are made of. A big test for the Vipers this weekend.
