The defending Interior Division Conference Champion Vernon Vipers opened the BCHL regular season with a 2-0 victory over the Cowichan Capitals Friday afternoon in Chilliwack.  Vipers Interim Head Coach Kevin Kraus picked up his first career BCHL win.  Today is game two for the Vipers who will face two Island teams at this year's BCHL Showcase.  Vernon went 12-6-2-2 last season vs the Mainland & Island teams.  The Vipers start the 2014-15 season on the road for their first three games before returning home for back to back home games vs West Kelowna & Langley next weekend.  Vernon improves to 2-1-1-1 all-time at the BCHL Showcase.

The defending Island Division Pennent winning Victoria Grizzlies open up the BCHL Showcase vs the Vernon Vipers this afternoon.  The Grizzlies finished atop the Island Division last season were just two points back of league leading Langley.  Victoria fell short of the BCHL Championship series after losing in the three team playoff matchup vs Coquitlam and Vernon last April.  This season the Grizzlies enter with seven players back from last years club after losing fifteen players from the 2013-14 season.  The Grizz will play Langley & Vernon this weekend at the BCHL Showcase will play their first four games away from home before hosting the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
