Adam Thompson scored at 2:37 of overtime, giving the visiting Vernon Vipers a 4-3 overtime victory over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in front of 1,284 fans at the Shaw Centre spoiling the Silverbacks home opener. Graeme Gordon made 23 saves in the win, while Tony Ierfino made 28 saves in the loss. The Vipers swept the home & home series to open the 2009-10 regular season, winning the previous night 3-2 over Salmon Arm in the Vipers home opener.
