Valin spent the past three seasons as Head Coach/GM with the KIJHL Fernie Ghostriders. Fernie finished 1st in the Eddie Mountain Division last season with a regular season record of 29-11-3-1
Valin spent the 2020-21 season as an Assistant Coach with the Alberta Junior Hockey League Whitecourt Wolverines. Prior to joining the Wolverines, Valin spent three seasons as Head Coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers U18 AAA team.
Valin played parts of two seasons in Vernon from 1998-2000. Valin was traded to the Prince George Spruce Kings during the 1999-2000 season. Prince George traded Valin back to Vernon for the following season where he split the 2000-01 season between the Vernon Vipers & the Alberta Junior Hockey League Grande Prairie Storm and Bow Valley Eagles. In 40 games with the Vipers, Valin collected (1-goal-5-assists-6-points).
