Again the Vernon Vipers lose. Why?, the awareness of the game from our veterans and younger players, wasn't there. Also, again we have no proven goal scorers to get the job done. When you have 20 shots to 10 in the first period and almost 45 shots for the game and still can only contribute 2 goals again which seems to be there average you will not win games. I am repeatedly listening to Mark Ferner say they are not understanding the game, I am telling them what I want to expect of them and it is not happening. Ferner again suggests changes but as fans we all seem to be waiting on Ferner to go out and get one if not a few proven goal scorers. I hate to say it but his recruiting for goal scorers especially when he knew what players he knew he would lose has not been great. Now maybe I can be wrong and with time I will see something on the ice that will change but with the amount of games played. I REALLY AM NOT HAVING A LOT OF FAITH. SIGNED DOUBTFUL FAN.

I watched the Vipers game online this afternoon and thought the Vipers played well for most of the game. Sure the Chiefs were playing their third game in three days but the Snakes once again had a ton of opportunities, but couldn't bury their chances. The team really needs a proven goal scorer. The Vipers have only scored three goals or more four times this season. With the Chiefs playing their third game in three days, this was the perfect opportunity for a win. A tough loss giving up the game winning goal with twenty seconds left in the game. The Vipers now have just two wins in their last nine games and only four wins this season. The Vipers are struggling and it doesn't look good.

The Fans are all calling for “a proven goal scorer”. This is an asset that is coveted by every team and are all usually recruited and signed prior to the season. Very few teams will trade such a player unless you empty the bank account or give up other young talent. We should all look at good goal scorers from previous seasons and realize that rarely were they prolific scorers as rookies or early in their BCHL career rather became consistent scorers after settling into the league, playing with consistent line mates and felt “at home” in their new environment. I am sure Ferner recruited well and the new comers will develop as he expects. Also I am sure he did not expect to lose Prokop to the WHL, Williamson & others to injury or players to suspensions. It is difficult but we all need to be patient. If things don’t come together soon changes will be made. He still has lots of cards available.

Now with 9 defensemen in the den I can see Ferner trading one or two of them for another veteran forward, possibly not a huge scorer though. This should give the young recruits some time to find their game. There are a lot of current Vipers who have had success at lower levels or with previous teams. The Viper teams we watch in Sept/Oct are rarely the team we have at Christmas.

We might think about getting on with things, our beloved owner is gone and not coming back. The new guys are different, probably not in a good way. But not nearly as bad as Nanaimo or West K, bothof them are better than us right now. But spade a spade, too many men and bad change equals a loss, and our pp point getters but goals against creaters didn't get their second assists tonight. It's like we allocate ice time like there's a fair play code or something. Team needs to quit moping, and the kids who win the minutes they are out there need to play.

This is an excellent blog with generally well thought out comments. Let's please not turn it into another BCHL Message Board with derogatory remarks about other posters who offer their opinions. We all have our own opinions and others should respect that. Enough said!!!
