Vipers open BCHL Showcase versus Cowichan
posted Jul 4, 2014
The Vernon Vipers open the Bauer B.C. Hockey League Showcase Friday, Sept. 16 in Chilliwack against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The first two Showcase events drew strong attendance from both NHL and NCAA scouts. The same is expected this time around. All 16 teams get two games.
“The Showcase has proven to be a popular event for both the people looking for talent and also the teams and players,” said BCHL communications director Brent Mutis. “The chance for scouts to see all players under one roof in one weekend is extremely valuable and the City of Chilliwack has been an ideal host for this event each of the last two years.”
Vernon, who lost in the semifinals of the Royal Bank Cup here in May, finish the Showcase on the Saturday afternoon versus the Victoria Grizzlies. The Vipers-Caps game is also a 3:30 start.
The Snakes open training camp Friday, Aug. 29 and entertain the Penticton Vees the next night in preseason play.
Vernon plays a home and home with the Salmon Arm SilverBacks Sept. 5-6 with the first game at the Shaw Centre.
The Prince George Spruce Kings visit Kal Tire Place Friday, Sept. 12 with the same two teams meeting the next night in Prince George.
