Posted on Thursday, August 15th, 2013

The Stena Line Belfast Giants have signed Canadian forward Dustin Whitecotton to the 2013/14 roster. Already a highly experienced European hockey player, Whitecotton comes to Belfast straight from the DEL, one of the top leagues in Europe.

Dustin will join up in Belfast with former teammate Calvin Elfring after the pair spent the previous five seasons together with DEL side Straubing Tigers where Whitecotton posted 37 goals and 72 assists, good for 109 points in an impressive 220 DEL games.

Hailing from British Colombia in Canada, the left-handed forward who can play Centre or Left Wing will add to the Belfast Giants’ offense and his debut appearances for the Giants will come against Bolzano Foxes in a pre-season Double Header at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September.

Giants Head Coach Paul Adey had this to say on the signing of Dustin Whitecotton:
“I am very pleased to have secured Dustin’s signature as I believe he will be an exciting offensive player to watch and will be expected to be one of our top performing forwards. Whitecotton is highly experienced in European hockey and played with Calvin Elfring in Germany. Most importantly, Dustin knows what it takes to win which will help us to challenge on all fronts this season.”
