Vernon's Tyler Steel missed a chance to play Midget AA baseball for Rutland at the provincials in Prince George because of the Sun Valley Showcase put on by Viper coach Mark Ferner. Steel, who was a standout for the junior B Sicamous Eagles last season, is a leading candidate to be Blake Voth's back-up in the Vipers' den this season.
