Defenseman Cody Bostock Joins Brendan Cook in Europe
July 10, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL) Rapid City Rush
(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush announced today that defenseman Cody Bostock has decided to join the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) for the 2010-11 season. Bostock is the second member of Rapid City's President's Cup Champion roster to join Braehead. Brendan Cook has also decided to join the team for the upcoming season.
"I had an unbelievable time in Rapid City," said Bostock. "I had been in touch with Joe since last summer and when this opportunity arose to go to a team in first place, with a couple of my good friends on it, it was a no-brainer. Everyone involved with the team, from the owners and the coaches, to teammates and the fans, were extremely supportive of me from the first day. With the way the team is run, Rapid City should be a contender for years to come. The community is the type of place where players want to live and with the energy in the building that the Rush fans create, you get the feeling on the ice that you can't lose."
Bostock began last season playing for Odense Bulldogs in Denmark where he logged 36 games before joining the Rush for the final six games of the regular season. The Salmon Arm, British Columbia native made an immediate impact, leading the team with a remarkable +12 rating in those contests. His steady play continued into the playoffs where he competed in all 17 games en route to the President's Cup Championship. In the postseason, Bostock led all defenseman with a +14 rating which was also good enough for third overall behind teammates Scott Wray and Brendan Cook. He also chipped in 8 assists, finishing second in scoring among Rush defenseman.
"When you lose a player the caliber of a Cody Bostock or Brendan Cook, it's a catch twenty-two," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Clearly you'd love to have them back, but at same time, you're happy for them and glad to see them have tremendous opportunities other areas. When a quality player with good character is strongly sought after, it goes to show the kind of athletes and professionals we are working with here in Rapid. Although Cody joined our team late last season, the pairing of he and Luke Fritshaw made an instant impact as they lead all defenseman in plus-minus while going against opposing top lines night after night. We wish him great success in Braehead, and thank him for his time here in Rapid."
