Rush Add Speedster Erik Felde to Roster
August 26, 2010
(Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced today that forward Erik Felde has signed on for the 2010-11 season. Last season was Felde’s first in the Central Hockey League (CHL), skating in 39 games for the Amarillo Gorillas.
“Erik was a player that made instant impact against us throughout the regular season,” said head coach Joe Ferras. “He has tremendous speed, along with the ability to play both forward and defense. He also has tons of family here in Rapid City that should make the transition much easier for him.”
The 5’11” 185-pound Felde is a versatile skater that can play both wing and defense. Last season, his second professional year, Felde compiled 7 goals and 20 points in 39 games for Amarillo. The Anchorage, Alaska native had a stretch of 10 points in 10 games from January 9th through the 31st.
“It’s an honor to be able to come play for a first class organization and a town that has passion for the game of hockey,” said Felde. “I’m excited to be a part of a winning team and help defend the championship title.”
Felde scored his first career CHL goal on December 19th against the Laredo Bucks and later collected his first professional two-goal with a pair of powerplay goals on January 15th versus the Arizona Sundogs.
The 22 year-old began his pro career in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) during the 2008-09 season. In that season, he suited up for the Alaska Aces and Reading Royals, collecting 9 points in 37 games. Last year, Felde appeared in 3 games for the Johnstown Chiefs before joining the Gorillas.
Felde is the third newcomer to the 2010-11 Rush roster, joining Ryan Menei and Andrew Smale. Returning players include forwards Brendon Hodge, Scott Wray, Rich Hansen, Blaine Jarvis, Luke Erickson and defenseman Riley Weselowski, Dave Grimson and Libor Ustrnul.
