Millionaires advance to round Two for the first time in their BCHL history

The Quesnel Millionaires dumped the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 6-1 to clinch the quarterfinal series 4 games to 2 and advance to the second round against the Vernon Vipers. Quesnel scored the first goal of the game for the 4th time in 6 games as Josh Desmarais beat Tony Ierfino with a wrap around in the first period at 6:18 with an assit to Darick Ste-Marie. It was 2-0 Quesnel when Justin Hogan jumped on a rebound at 17:32 with the assists to Taylor Holst and Trever Hertz.
Quesnel opened the second with a high light reel goal by Josh Desmarais scoring as he took the puck in one on one, beat the defenceman and then deked out Ierfino to electrify the crowd at 2:44 to make it 3-0. Salmon Arm got on the board with their only threat of the night, a tap in by Christopher Hoe at 5:17 of the second.
Quesnel scored early in the third to make it 5-1 as Trever Hertz took a pass from Hogan and Skylar Smutek as they scored at 5l seconds of the third period. Darick Ste-Marie wrapped up the scoring at 7:02 of the third with his 8th goal of the series and temporarily took over top spot in scoring in the play offs for the BCHL.
Kirby Halcrow was again strong for Quesnel in net, stopping 39 of 40 shots fired his way. Quesnel will now move on to take on the Defending National Junior 'A' Champion Vernon Vipers starting with games 1 and 2 March 9 and 10 at the Wesbild Centre, before returning to Quesnel for games 3 & 4 March 12th and 13th.
