Canucks Sign Former Viper Volpatti:

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have signed forward Aaron Volpatti to a multi-year deal.

Volpatti, 24, joins the Canucks from Brown University, where he served as team captain in his senior year. In the 2009-10 season, the Revelstoke, BC native recorded 32 points (17-15-32) in 37 games played. He set the school record for most penalty minutes in a season with 115 in 2009-10. Volpatti played four seasons with Brown, registering 62 points (32-30-62) and 236 penalty minutes in 123 career college games.

Prior to college, Volpatti played for the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. From the 2003-04 to 2005-06 seasons, the 6’2”, 215-pound forward tallied 37 points (13-24-37) and 279 penalty minutes in 137 games. He also appeared in the 2004 BCHL Playoffs, recording one goal and five penalty minutes in five games. In his final season with the Vipers, Volpatti was named an assistant captain.
