2009 team nominated for team of the year

The Vernon Vipers have been nominated for the 2009 Team of the Year. This award recognizes an amateur team competing in a Sport BC-sanctioned league in the Province of BC during 2009.
Sport BC 44th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards, presented by TELUS will be held March 31, 2010 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, BC and is the longest standing sport recognition event in Canada and the first event of its kind following the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The awards honour the best of BC’s athletes for their performances in amateur sport over the past year and there are 19 categories, including two new categories this year to honour the top BC Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The 2009 Nominees for Team of the year are;
Team Sanders – Curling (Richmond, BC)
UBC Women’s Volleyball (Vancouver, BC)
Vernon Vipers – Hockey (Vernon, BC)
Previous winners include:
2008 – Canadian Olympic Men’s Rowing 8
1999 – Simon Fraser University Clan, Women's Softball
1995 – Kamloops Blazers Junior Team, Ice Hockey
