I watched the Vipers-Bulldogs game on FloHockey. The Bulldogs carried and controlled the better of the play and were the better team in the first two periods. The Vipers played their best hockey in the 3rd and made the game close and interesting but couldn’t mount a comeback. For a must win game, falling behind 4-0 and not getting a ton of shots on goal early didn’t help. I didn’t think the Bulldogs two penalty shots were penalty shots. Maybe a slashing penalty? Lane Maarhuis didn’t look sharp but Jesse Sanche was very good in relief. With the loss, Vernon has been eliminated from playoff contention and will miss the playoffs for a second straight season and eighth time in franchise history. Overall a very disappointing season. Maybe this is a wake up call to ownership?
They played better in the third period??? Why knowing your playoff hopes are on the line would you not play better in the first two periods??. Lets face it Matt Cooke doesn't have the talent on his team to work with. When Matt Cooke came into the game he certainly could not get the cream of the crop of talented players he was only able to get the left overs. Sad but true and with a new season for next year I am hope for the best in better talent picks and maybe some coaching changes . GO,VIPERS,GO.
Disagree bingo. Cooke recruited players and then cut them. The initial squad he chose was not good enough. He was naive to think a younger team would prevail in this league. he then had to pivot To make the team better. He traded For veterans that had never Generated enough offense to make a real impact Then picked up players from the NAHL that I agree weren’t good enough. Poor decisions were make at the beginning of the season and that’s on Cooke. Don’t expect his young recruits for next year to make the cut. Vernon is going to be in the same situation next year. I guessing the young 08 too producer from this year may find himself on a new team
I listened to the game on the radio. The Vipers didn't come out to play like they want a playoff spot. They seemed to be sloppy and played a little better in the 2nd period and picked it up a little more in the 3rd. Disappointing as the loss knocked them out of playoff contentions.
