I like the addition of Dowhaniuk. I think the Vipers defence was too young and brining in another veteran 20 yr old was key. I think the Snakes have made two big moves here by bringing in two 20 yr old veteran d-men within the past few days.
Well were only two weeks into the 2024-25 regular season and the Vipers have been one of if not the busiest team making several moves. Since training camp gone are,
Forward 06 Kole Hyles, Forward 05 Kristian Lamanna, Forward 05 Sean Gibbons Forward 05 Payton Struck Forward 06 Bronson Ross Defenceman 06 Roarke Gilmour Forward 04 Carter Streek Defenceman 05 Carson Lloyd
Jason McKee may be long gone but some of his past recruiting/players are still on this years team. Lukas Lomicky and Colton Sparrow have added in their own recruiting/players since McKee's departure. Recruiting is a huge factor in Junior hockey and when you don't recruit well or the team struggles early and is winless, this is what happens. Changes are bound to happen. It's early but I'm glad the Vipers are recognizing they have issues that need to be fixed.
This years Vipers reminds me a lot like the 2015-16 Vipers when that Viper team started making changes early and through out the season. It seemed like a new player was coming every other week.
Now that the Vipers have recognized they needed changes on the blueline, now the Vipers need to look at their offence as the team is in need of some scoring or someone that can put the puck in the net. Vernon has struggled offensively this year and can't score.
Will we see more changes or will the Vipers give this team some time to gel and grow as a team?
If you look back to last year, when Lumicky actually started coaching the Vipers with 10 games to go, and his record so far this year, he is at only 50% winning record; 7 wins 7 loses. Reminds me of McKee, just not good enough!!!
Did anybody really think the team would be better this year? The Vipers just promoted the other two coaches who were on the infamous Prince George bus trip... It was acceptable to finish last season with them, the team got a coaches bump and made them seem like better coaches than they are. They are following Mcgoo's program and cutting players left and right. Can't score goals= get rid of players. Can't play defence=get rid of players. How about they hire a legit coaching staff who can choose a system that highlights their players strengths? Same old nonsense. Good luck recruiting for next year.

At least the Vipers recognized early that they had serious issues on defense and have tried to address the problem, hopefully the changes will work.
