I watched the Vipers/Bulldogs game on flo hockey this morning. I thought the Vipers played well and were by far the better team in the 1st period, had the better of the play for most of the opening period. Blackfalds played much better in the 2nd period and had a slight edge in play. Both teams were fairly even in the 3rd in a game that I thought was pretty boring. This wasn't a very good game as both teams were pretty sloppy, made lots of mistakes. Two teams that are at the bottom of the standings that aren't very good. The Vipers were lucky to win today and had to hang on for the victory vs a winless Bulldogs team. This is not good enough.
The Vipers can't score and have struggled offensively this year, were able to get six goals on Friday and another six this morning. The Vipers definitely need to find a goal scorer or someone that can put the puck in the net. Another thing that concerns me, is the Vipers not being able to play with or hold a lead. Vernon had a 2-1 lead heading into the 3rd last weekend vs Penticton, gave up three goals in the first four minutes and lost 4-3. On Friday the Snakes had a 5-1 lead in the 3rd vs West Kelowna, didn't blow the lead but needed an empty net goal to hold off a strong 3rd period push from the Warriors and then this morning blew 2-0 and 4-2 leads were lucky to get the fifth goal to re-take the lead before adding an empty netter.
I noticed Adam Csabi didn't play again today. Csabi has played three games this year. Is he injured? Has he been benched?
The Vipers have a couple of tough opponents coming up over the next seven to eight games. If the Vipers continue to lose more games then they do win, will we see a coaching change?
