Let's take a look at the Vernon Vipers:

The 3-3-0-0 Defending Interior Division Champion Vernon Vipers make there first of four regular season visits to the South Okanagan Events Centre are coming off a 7-2 loss Saturday to the visiting Cowichan Capitals. The Snakes last regular season victory in Penticton was a 3-2 overtime win, February 8th 2019. The Vipers & Vees will meet again in two weeks, October 18th in the Peach City. Tonight's the first of two games at the BCHL Showcase and the first game of a three game road trip. The Vipers are 2-1 on the road this season, play sixteen of there next nineteen games away from home. Last year Vernon went 14-10-3-1 on the road, losing two of three regular season games in Penticton last year. This is only the second time the Vipers & Vees have met in the BCHL Showcase. The Vees & Vipers first and only meeting at the BCHL Showcase was 2012 in Chilliwack. Michael Rebry scored at 2:56 of double overtime giving Penticton a 3-2 double overtime victory over Vernon September 8th 2012.

The 8-0-0-0 defending Interior Division regular season Champion Penticton Vees are coming off a 7-3 win in West Kelowna Saturday, swept the Warriors in a home & home series last weekend. Blog Hits 1.7 Million Viewers:

On October 3rd 2019 this blog hit 1,700,000 (1.7 million) viewers-page views. 

I wanted to take this time to thank all of you, the viewers who check out my blog.  Without you the fans/viewers, this blog would not be possible.  It's you the fans-viewers who keep this site going.  

I first created my Vipersdiehardfan blog in November of 2008 and since then have had over 1.7 million viewers visit this site. To follow the viewer count, check out the counter on the left hand side of this blog. 

I have a website that tell's me how many viewer's I get per month, per day, as well as per week. During the Vipers/hockey season, I average between 400-600 viewers a day but have also had up to 700-1100 viewers per day depending on the day and time of year. It obviously slows down during the off season, but come summer I still manage to average between 300-400 viewers per day. I had 17,362 viewers visit my blog for the month of September.

The site also tell's me where the viewer's are from and how they contacted this blog. I get people from all across the world visiting this blog daily.

Vernon Vipers Add Steinke To Roster:

The Vernon Vipers have added 19 yr old goaltender Cole Steinke to there
roster.

No official press release from the Vipers but Steinke has been added as an "AP" affiliated player to the Vipers reserve roster.

Steinke is listed at 5'11 150lbs from Mayerthorpe, Alberta.

The Vipers still have goaltenders Max Palaga & Dawson Pelletier listed on there active roster, while Kobe Grant & Cole Steinke are listed on there reserve roster.

Steinke is in his second season with the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Sicamous Eagles. In 31 games last year Steinke went 11-13-2 with one shutout posted a 2.97 GAA In three games this season, Steinke is 1-2 with a 3.33 GAA

The Vernon Vipers have seen enough of Island Division teams at Kal Tire Place.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals rolled into Vernon Saturday and left with a 7-2 B.C. Hockey League win over the Snakes in front of 1,800 disappointed fans. Vernon has played three home games, all against the Island Division, and are 1-2 (3-3 overall).

The Caps (7-2) scored twice in the first period and added three more in the second to take a 5-0 lead into the final 20 minutes, chasing Vernon starting goalie Max Palaga in favour of Vernon’s Kobe Grant, making his Vipers debut. Grant was called up as an affiliate player from the B.C. Major AAA League’s Thompson Blazers.

Ben Helgeson scored a powerplay goal at 3:38 of the third to get the Vipers on the board, spoiling the shutout bid of Caps goalie Zach Borgiel, who finished with 25 saves. Palaga and Grant combined to make 24 saves in the Vernon net.

Ryan Shostak scored his first BCHL goal at 10:11 to round out the Vipers scoring.

Matthew Crasa scored twice for Cowichan Valley.

The Vipers will take part in the league’s Bauer Showcase Festival in Penticton with games against the undefeated Vees Friday, and the West Kelowna Warriors Saturday. Next home for the Vipers is Friday, Oct. 11, against the Merritt Centennials.

The Vees improved to 8-0 Saturday with a 7-3 win over the Warriors in West Kelowna.

Cowichan jumped out to a 5-0 lead, while eleven different Capitals recorded at least a point in the Capitals 7-2 victory. 1st Star Matthew Crasa with 2 goals & 1 assist lead the attack for the Caps in front of 1,799 fans.

Klippers Name Former Vernon Laker Ferster New Interim Co-Coach:

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Kindersley Klippers have named former Vernon Lakers forward Rylan Ferster new interim Co-Coach.

Ferster leaves the B.C. under-16 team in his first season. The B.C. under-16 team named Ferster new assistant coach May 8th 2019.

Ferster spent the past seven seasons as Head Coach/GM of the West Kelowna Warriors. Entering his eighth season last year resigned before training camp August 21st 2018. 

Last season Ferster was a partner with Hockey Pathways. Hockey Pathways is a family advisory service for hockey players. 

Ferster played parts of one season in Vernon winning a Centennial Cup with the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers.  In 28 games with the Lakers Ferster collected (8-goals-11-assists-19-points).

The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers welcome Rylan Ferster to our coaching staff. Rylan will be joining the team as Co-Coach with Larry Wintoneak until our Head Coach Garry Childerhose is able to make a return. Rylan will be a great asset to the team as he is very familiar with the Klippers staff. 

“I’m a Sask. guy. I played in the league. Larry is one of my best friends and I grew up in Prince Albert with Stephen Corfmat (Klippers Head Scout). Larry and I spent two years working with Hockey Canada at the WJAC, and we share many of the same philosophies. So when he asked me to help out it was a no brainer. I’m excited to be part of the SJHL and the Klippers family.” - Rylan Ferster

Rylan played 3 seasons with the Nipawin Hawks before joining the Vernon Lakers of the BCJHL where he won the Centennial Cup in 1990. Following his junior career he attended SAIT in Calgary where he played 3 seasons. Ferster then  went on to play pro overseas. 

For the past 20 seasons he has been a Coach/GM in the BCHL.  And has had a tremendous amount of success. As a coach he has won 3  Division Championships, an RBC championship, and 2 silver medals with Team Canada West.

He is currently working as a family advisor with Hockey Pathways.

His most recent coaching position was a 7 year term as the Head Coach/GM of the West Kelowna Warriors. We are very excited to have Rylan on our team and appreciate him coming in on short notice. Welcome to the Klippers Rylan!

Gladiators Sign Former Viper "AP" Hannoun:

The ECHL Atlanta Gladiators have signed former Vernon Vipers "AP" affiliated player-forward Dante Hannoun. 

Hannoun is the younger brother of former Vernon Vipers forward Demico Hannoun (2013-14) spent the past five seasons with the Western Hockey League Victoria Royals & Prince Albert Raiders. Hannoun was traded to Prince Albert January 3rd 2019. In 56 games last year with the Royals & Raiders Hannoun collected (29-goals-38-assists-67-points). 

Hannoun scored the overtime winning goal as the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the visiting Vancouver Giants In Game 7 of the Western Hockey League Finals, to advance to the Memorial Cup for the first time since 1985.

Gladiators sign defenseman and forward

Duluth, GA - As the season rapidly approaches, the Atlanta Gladiators are putting the finishing touches on their final roster, adding a forward and defenseman today.  They signed defenseman Rob Powers, who spent parts of the last two seasons in the ECHL with three teams, as well as forward Dante Hannoun who will be making his professional debut this season.

“Rob Powers is a defenseman that was in Indianapolis. He skates well and has a great shot. He plays a solid two-way game and plays hard. Rob had a solid first season and I think he will be more comfortable after being in the league last year.  As a coach I'm looking forward to seeing him develop,” said Coach Jeff Pyle.

Powers, a 25-years-old left-handed defenseman, hails from Ajax, Ontario. Rob brings a championship pedigree from early on in his career, winning two OJHL Championships, in 2011-12 and 2013-14. He then went on to play defense for Robert Morris University (PA) and was part of the Colonials winning two regular-season titles, as they won the Atlantic Conference Championship in his freshman and sophomore seasons.

During college he played stellar defense, registering 50 career blocked shots in 84 games. After his senior year, he went straight to professional hockey, playing in the ECHL that same year. Powers first played with the Gladiators' biggest rival, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at the end of the 2017-18 season for eight games. Last season, he returned to the ECHL splitting time between the Indy Fuel and Worcester Railers.

“After their finish last season, I'm excited to join the Glads. Everyone I talked to had nothing but good things to say about the team, the organization, and Coach Pyle. Can't wait to get camp started and carry that momentum into this season,” said the new defenseman Powers. Right-handed forward Dante Hannoun is a 21-year-old from Delta, British Columbia, who comes with a decorated resume. Dante is a big-time goal scorer and a clutch player who also brings championship-caliber play.   

“Dante Hannoun is a small player but uses that to his advantage. He played in the WHL and led his team on a great post-season run. He is a very smart centerman with great vision and feel for the game, who also competes hard. He is a scorer and player that the puck seems to find. Dante has good hands, skates well and will be a great addition down the middle,” said the Gladiators Head Coach.

Dante has been a natural scorer since bantam hockey.  While playing in the PCBHL during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, in 123 games he scored a combined 107 goals, 134 assists, and 241 points. In his second season, he put up huge numbers that included 63 goals, in 63 games, with 88 assists for 151 points.

The following year in 2013-14, he spent most of the season with the Greater Vancouver Canadians in the         BCMML, also winning a silver medal in the Western Canada Challenge Cup. Toward the end of the season, he joined the Victoria Royals for a couple of games, where he would spend the next five seasons. During his time with the Royals, he put in 98 goals and had 150 assists for 248 points in 284 games.

Last season, he began with the Victoria Royals, then went on to play for the Prince Albert Raiders, playing exactly 28 games for both teams and in 56 games had combined 67 points, with 29 goals and 38 assists. That was the least of what Hannoun did for his new squad. Dante helped Prince Albert win their first Memorial Cup, making them WHL Champions for the first time since 1985. He was not only the leading goal scorer in the playoffs with 14 but added 10 assists for 24 points in 23 playoff games. Hannoun also scored the biggest goal of the year, putting in the overtime winner in Game 7 of the championship series, to give Price Albert their second title in franchise history.

Vernon Vipers Alumni Tambellini Lands Tryout With Stockton Heat:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Adam Tambellini has landed a tryout with the Calgary Flames affiliate American Hockey League Stockton Heat.

Tambellini played last season with the Ottawa Senators affiliate American Hockey League Belleville Senators. In 72 games last season with Belleville Tambellini collected (13-goals-19-assists-32-points).

The Ottawa Senators made qualifying offers to all restricted free agents on their roster June 17th 2019 except Tambellini.

The Ottawa Senators signed Tambellini to a two-way, one-year contract July 25th 2018. Tambellini never played a game in Ottawa, was placed on waivers September 23rd 2018 played last season with the Senators affiliate American Hockey League Belleville Senators . Prior to joining the Senators Tambellini spent the previous three seasons with the American Hockey League Hartford Wolf Pack. 

Tambellini left the University of North Dakota in January 2014 for the Western Hockey League joining the Calgary Hitmen January 8th 2014 after being acquired in a trade with the Portland Winterhawks. 

Tambellini played a season and a half in Vernon (2011-13) before being traded to Surrey on January 10th 2013 along with future considerations (Michael Roberts) for Mason Blacklock & future considerations (Jordan Klimek and Demico Hannoun). In 91 regular season games with the Vipers Tambellini collected (49-goals-46-assists-95-points). Tambellini was drafted 64th overall in the 3rd Round by the New York Rangers at the 2013 NHL Draft. Tambellini attended the New York Rangers 2014 Prospect Development Camp.
