On This Day In Vernon Junior Hockey History:

Forty six years ago today (July 8th 1980) The Vernon Daily News released an article that Hank Aarsen has been named the new General Manager of Vernon's junior hockey team for the 1980-81 season while Russ Newton was named Head Coach. In June 1980 league governors voted to readmit Vernon back into the British Columbia Junior Hockey League after the Vernon Canadians took a leave of absence for the 1979-80 season. At this time heading into the 1980-81 season the current team still has yet to announce a name.
