Former Vernon Vipers defenceman John Saunders has committed to Royal Military College for next season.
Saunders started the season in Merritt was in his second season with the Centennials before being traded to the AJHL Whitecourt Wolverines on September, 12th for future considerations. On September, 27th the Wolverines traded Saunders back to the BCHL to the Coquitlam Express for future considerations.
Saunders played with the KIJHL North Okanagan Knights (2011-12) & five games as an "AP" (affiliated player) with the Vernon Vipers. Saunders attended the 2010 Sun Valley Showcase in Vernon and the Vipers 2011 & 2012 Training camps. Saunders played in three pre-season games with the Vipers last year before being released and signing with the Centennials.

Coquitlam Express defenceman John Saunders has accepted an offer to play at the Royal Military College for the Paladins in Kingston, Ont. starting next season.
Saunders has split time this season between Merritt and Coquitlam. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound blueliner has two goals and five helpers on the season to go along with 97 penalty minutes.
Royal Military College competes in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East Division.
There are currently no BCHL alumni on the Paladins roster but Merritt Centennials head coach Luke Pierce is a graduate of the program.
