Former Vipers Head Coach-GM Mark Ferner Guides Silvertips Into Playoffs:

Former Vernon Vipers Head Coach-GM Mark Ferner and the WHL Everett Silvertips clinched a spot in the 2012 WHL playoffs Sunday evening when the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 8-2. Everett finished the WHL regular season with a 22-40-2-8 record finishing just two points up on 9th place Seattle.

The 8th place Silvertips will face the top-seeded Tri-City Americans in a best-of-seven first round playoff series starting Friday. Ferner was the Vipers bench boss for four seasons (2007-2011) helping the Vipers make three straight trips to the Royal Bank Cup before signing with Everett in early July. Former Vernon Vipers forward, Zach McPhee is also a memeber of the Silvertips. McPhee a Vernon product played last year with the Vipers & Silvertips before joining the Silvertips this season full time.

EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips punched their ticket to the 2012 WHL playoffs Sunday evening when the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 8-2 at Memorial Coliseum, clinching Everett’s ninth playoff appearance in as many seasons of existence. As the #8 seed in the Western Conference, the Silvertips will face the top-seeded Tri-City Americans in a best-of-seven first round playoff series starting Friday. The entire series schedule is as follows:

Game 1: Everett at Tri-City, Friday, 7:05 p.m.
Game 2: Everett at Tri-City, Saturday, 7:05 p.m.
Game 3: Tri-City at Everett, Mar. 27, 7:05 p.m.
Game 4: Tri-City at Everett, Mar. 28, 7:05 p.m.
Game 5 (if necessary): Everett at Tri-City, Mar. 31, 7:05 p.m.
Game 6 (if necessary): Tri-City at Everett, Apr. 2, 7:05 p.m.
Game 7 (if necessary): Everett at Tri-City, Apr. 4, 7:05 p.m.
