The AHL Chicago Wolves have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Dean Strong to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO). Strong played one year in Vernon (2004-05) collecting (35-56-91) with the Vipers during the regular season before playing the next four years at the University of Vermont. Strong played last season with Crimmitschau (Germany) and Kalamazoo (ECHL). Strong had just re-signed with Kalamazoo in late August.

The Chicago Wolves have signed forward Dean Strong to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) on Thursday.
STRONG registered 3 goals and 7 points in seven ECHL contests with the Kalamazoo K-Wings last season. He also notched 7 goals and 14 points in 15 postseason games en route to helping Kalamazoo reach the Kelly Cup Finals. The 26-year-old forward began last season with Crimmitschau in Germany’s second division, posting 10 goals and 23 points in 25 matchups.
The Mississauga, Ont., native recorded 2 goals and 5 points in 16 American Hockey League games with the Worcester Sharks during his professional debut in 2009-10. He also tallied 16 goals, 21 assists and 37 points in 34 ECHL contests with Kalamazoo that season.
Prior to turning pro, STRONG amassed 35 goals, 72 assists and 107 points in 155 career contests with the University of Vermont (Hockey East), spanning four seasons (2005-09).
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The Wolves open their 18th season at 7 p.m. on Saturday when they battle the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center. The club holds its home opener, presented by LifeSource, at 7 p.m., Sat., Oct. 15, against the Milwaukee Admirals at Allstate Arena.
