Eagles Add Two More Forwards in Ofukany & Huculak

08/30/2011

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today the signing of two more forwards for their upcoming camp as they head into the 2011-12 hockey season, their first in the ECHL. Colorado has signed Troy Ofukany (oh-fuke-uh-knee) & Liam Huculak (hooch-uh-lack).

Ofukany (6-foot, 195-pounds) will be entering his fourth professional season after four years in the WHL that included a league championship with the Kelowna Rockets in 2004-05. He registered 149 points (66-83-149) in 265 WHL games, and has added 49 points (25-24-49) in 111 games in the CHL while playing with the Wichita Thunder & Odessa Jackalopes.

"Ofukany is a well-rounded player who competes all over the ice and has a knack for finding the back of the net," said Eagles assistant coach Greg Pankewicz of the player with more goals than assists in his pro career. "He'll definitely add good depth to our forwards."

Huculak (6-foot-5-inches, 225-pounds) has followed up four years at Colgate University with four years of pro hockey -- the first two in the ECHL with and the latter two in the CHL with the Allen Americans. In 218 pro games, the physical forward has accumulated 66 points (30-36-66) and 501 penalty minutes. He acted as one of his team's assistant captains as a Junior at Colgate University and again last season with the Americans when he set career highs in goals (12), assists (12) & points (24).

"Huculak brings good leadership and a real physical presence to the ice every time he jumps over the boards," said Eagles head coach & general manager Chris Stewart. "Both of these players possess nice intangibles, and will add to the great mix of forwards we'll have at our upcoming camp."
