Grizzlies win opener at Keystone Cup

The Revelstoke Grizzlies won their opening game of the Keystone Cup, defeating the host Kamloops Storm 6-2 Thursday morning.
Forwards' Faiz Khan, Brendan Burge, Lucas Blinkhorn and Brad Friedrich all had a goal and an assist for the Grizzlies, while defenceman Caleb Roy picked up three assists.
Forward Bruce Silvera and defenceman Kyle Ceretzke also scored for Revelstoke.
The Grizzlies opened the game strong, peppering Kamloops goaltender Anthony Manfredi with 23 shots in the first period, but they didn't score until just over a minute left when Friedrich scored a power play goal from Blinkhorn and Roy.
The second period was all Grizzlies as they scored four goals, by Ceretzke, Burge, Blinkhorn and Khan. The onslaught chased Manfredi from the net at the end of the period.
The teams traded goals in the third period, with Gary Rai scoring his second of the game for Kamloops and Silvera scoring a last-minute power play goal for Revelstoke.
The Grizzlies next game is Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against the Tri Town Thunder from Saskatchewan.
