Vipers & Royals BCHL Record Still Alive:
The 1989-90 New West Royals & the 1998-99 Vernon Vipers BCHL record of 52 wins in a season is still alive after the Vipers lost last week (Thursday February 4th) 3-2 in overtime to the Powell River Kings. A Vipers loss means their is no way this years version of the Vipers can tie or break the Royals and Vipers BCHL record of 52 wins in a season. With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Vipers dont have enough games remaining to tie or break the record. The Vipers started out the season with a 27-1 record wich included a 21 game winning streak, before the team lost 2-1 in overtime to the visiting Westside Warriors. At this point it looked like the Vipers had a great chance at either tying or breaking both the New West Royals and the 1999 Vipers BCHL record of 52 wins, but since that loss to Westside Vernon has gone 17-8 No matter what record the team finishes with, this will be one of Vernons best teams in club history.
