The British Columbia Hockey League has announced its Coastal and Interior Conference Award Winners for the 2009/10 season.
Leading the way as Most Valuable Players are Mitch MacMillan of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (Coastal Conference) and Denver Manderson of the Penticton Vees (Interior Conference), who each led their respective clubs to outstanding records while posting impressive offensive numbers.
MacMillan led the BCHL in goals with 61 and paced all Coastal scorers with 93 points. MacMillan's Bulldogs were the Coast's top team, improving by 53 points from last to first in the conference standings. The 20-year old also became the first BCHL player since Kyle Turris to score 50 goals in less than 50 games.
Manderson held a wide lead in the league scoring race before suffering an injury in late January. The Fergus, ON product finished third in BCHL scoring with 113 points despite being out of the line-up for 10 games, and led the league in points-per-game with 2.3. Manderson also captained the Vees to a record of 48-8-0-4, good for second in the Interior Conference and a third-overall finish in the CJHL's National Rankings.
