British Columbia Hockey League grads Zac Dalpe and Hunter Bishop stepped up offensively on the weekend, leading the Ohio StateBuckeyes to a sweep of Bowling Green with a 4-3 win over the Falcons on Saturday.
Former Penticton Vees forward Zac Dalpe led the Buckeyes with two goals and three points, including the game-winning goal, while Vernon Vipers grad Hunter Bishop had three assists.
Devon Krogh, a teammate of Dalpe's in Penticton, also contributed with timely scoring. With the Buckeyes on a second period power play, Dalpe got the puck to Bishop who found Krogh at the point and his shot got through glove side.
With the game then tied 2-2 in the second, Bishop’s shot from up high went wide and bounced to Matt Bartkowski outside the crease. He passed to Dalpe at the far post who collected it and scored, marking the Buckeyes’ fifth power-play tally of the weekend. In the third, Dalpe put Ohio State up by two when Peter Boyd passed to Sergio Somma, who threaded the puck to an open Dalpe who scored on a backhand at 6:36.
Dalpe is currently the Buckeyes’ leading scorer with 12 goals and 23 points and has four multiple-point games this season. It was his third two-goal game of the campaign. Bishop’s three assists and points were a career high. He had five points in the series with two goals in the opener Friday.
