I watched the Vipers/Grizzlies game on my computer. I thought the Vipers played a hard/good game tonight. Other then a few shifts in the 2nd period, where they allowed two quick back to back goals, I thought the Snakes were the better team. The Grizzlies had some chances and played well at times, but overall it looked like Vernon had a bit more edge in play and had the more quality chances. I got a little scared/nervous when the Grizzlies scored two quick goals early into the middle frame, to get within a goal but the Snakes didn't quit, scored two big goals in the 3rd to earn the victory. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period on the road doesn't happen often, but a great way to start the game and this weekend. Vernon has won eight of there last nine games and are 8-2 in there last ten games. Looking at the standings this was a game the Vipers wanted/needed to win. The Vipers get some revenge after the Grizzlies spoiled the Snakes home opener. Great to see Ben Sanderson back in the lineup, let's hope he's ok after going hard into the boards tonight. Tonight's attendance was 1,221 but watching the game, saw a ton of empty seats. Lucky to be 500 people at the game tonight. Vernon plays tomorrow in Cowichan vs a Capitals team that won in Vernon 7-2 September 28th.

Go Vipers Go!

After the Buzzer – Vipers Tame Grizzlies

November 2, 2019

Victoria, BC: The powerplay struck twice and Colby Feist scored his first BCHL goal as the Vernon Vipers got back into the win column with a 5-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Vipers came out buzzing in the first period. They’d strike first on a powerplay after some great movement. Dawson Holt found Connor Marritt in the left circle and he’d make no mistake to make it 1-0. Three and a half minutes later, Ben Helgeson set up Colby Feist for his first BCHL goal to make it 2-0. The Grizzlies would get some chances of their own, but Reilly Herbst and the defense core stood tall. A late powerplay for the Vipers saw Matt Kowalski get set up in the right circle and he’d snap a shot over the shoulder of Joe Howe to make it 3-0.

The Grizz chipped into the deficit following a Nico Somerville point shot that made it through a maze of bodies and off the post and in to make it 3-1. Less than two minutes later Trevor Bishop converted on a chance it front to make it 3-2. The game tightened up after that with neither team able to hit the back of the net.

In the third, the Vipers pulled away after a brilliant shift from Brett Fudger. He blocked a shot and turned it into a rush up the ice. He’d finesse a puck across to Connor Sleeth who snapped it home to make it 4-2. The Vipers surrendered just 6 shots in the period as they minimized most Victoria chances. Dawson Holt finished off a nice 2 on 1 rush with Connor Marritt to make it 5-2 and thats the way it would finish.

The Vipers will head on to Cowichan for a date with the Caps on Saturday night.

Greatness and how it is achieved. This happens when people believe in a idea and what it takes to get there. The Vipers are starting to believe in themselves and as a team. This you can see because each member of this team is contributing to ONE GOAL. and that is how greatness is achieves. Proud of you guys continue in your greatness, ONE GOAL.

I was at the game last night in Victoria and there was maybe 200-250 people there at best. I have no idea where they got 1221 from.
