The 2-0-0-1 Vernon Vipers are coming off a 4-2 victory over the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings Thursday. Tonight's the first of seven meetings (exhibition & regular season) with the Smoke Eaters this coming season. The Snakes come into action this evening having played two of their first three pre-season games at home. Tonight is the Vipers fourth and final exhibition game, before opening the 2017-18 regular season September 8th with a home & home series vs Salmon Arm. Over the next twenty nine days the Vipers have just two home games (tonight & September 9th) will play seven of their next nine games away from home. Vernon has thirteen players returning from last season, have thirty one players still on their current roster. Newly acquired Anthony Yamnitsky & Tanner Wishnowski are reported to make their Viper debuts tonight.

Let's take a look at the Trail Smoke Eaters:

The 0-2-0-0 Trail Smoke Eaters make their first and only pre-season visit to Kal Tire Place are coming off a 4-2 loss August 26th in Wenatchee. The Smokies lost three of four games at Kal Tire Place last season, will make three trips to Vernon during the regular season, wont return to Kal Tire Place until December 1st. This is the first meeting since the Vipers eliminated the Smoke Eaters in the second round of the BCHL playoffs last year. Tonight is the third and final exhibition game for the Smokies, who play all three pre-season games away from home this year. The Smokies come into tonight with a 0-2 pre-season record lost both exhibition games in Wenatchee last weekend. Trail will open the 2017-18 regular season with a home & home series vs West Kelowna. The Smoke Eaters roster is unavailable so I don't know how many players are returning from last season.
