The EHC Olten obliges Curtis Gedig

The EHC Olten places on Canadian power in the defensive. Curtis Gedig will form from the next season together with compatriot Justin Feser the foreign duet with the EHCO. Gedig has signed, just as before forward Feser, for 2 years.

The 190 cm and 93 kg Gedig comes at close range from Vancouver and has the eindrückliches first year on European ice behind itself. With his team Stjernen which has retired on Monday from the Playoffs 26 gates and whole-like 52 Skorerpunkte reach to him in 43 plays. With it he was the most productive defender in the Norwegian Get Ligaen and second-best goal scorer of the whole league.

The Offensiverteidiger with date of birth 14.9.1991 became in 2009 from New Jersey Devils gedraftet, however, did not create the step in the NHL. His abilities fit very well to the European hockey. Curtis Gedig counts as a good skater with hard, exact shot. In addition, his Playmakerqualitäten and a really good eye distinguish him by the attack release. Gedig is convincing not only with his sporty, but also with human qualities. Sports boss Kölliker: ' We are glad very much that we could persuade him to continue his still young career in Olten. Particularly as Curtis was intensely courted and also had various offers from the DEL and Sweden. '

Resignation of Shayne Wiebe

With the obligation of a foreign defender the EHCO ventures a strategy change because in the modern hockey the defenders win more and more in meaning – they do the play and speed up it. ' The shot-immense defenders who can be used especially also in the Powerplay as a best player are rare ', according to Kölliker. Suitably to this profile a läuferisch technically experienced man was found with Curtis Gedig.

This transfer also means that the time of Shayne Wiebe comes to an end in Olten. We thank warmly Shayne for his application in the service of the EHCO and wish Him for his future only the best. (ph)
