The ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators have called up former Vernon Vipers forward Brian Elser from the SPHL Fayetteville FireAntz signing Elser to a one game contract. Elser started the season with the FireAntz playing in 22 games collecting (9-8-17). Mark Ferner scouted Elser who was 18 at the time, at the U.S. Midget championships in Buffalo. Elser attended the 2008-2009 Vipers training camp making the Vipers opening day roster before being traded on September, 12th 2008 to the AJHL Drayton Valley Thunder for future considerations (cash) and a player to be named next year. In two games with the Vipers Elser collected one assist. Rumor was Elser didnt report to the Thunder and his rights were given back to Vernon. On August, 7th 2009 the Vipers traded Elser and future considerations to Victoria for Jonathan Milhouse.

Defenseman Corey Fienhage was reassigned to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League by the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. In addition, the Gladiators signed forward Brian Elser for Tuesday’s game in South Carolina.
Fienhage, 22, has one goal and five assists in 36 games with the Gladiators this season. He split last season between the AHL and the ECHL, as he appeared in 32 games with Gwinnett (five goals, eight assists) and 20 with Rochester (four assists).
Elser, 23, has played 22 games so far in his rookie season with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League. He is tied for fourth on the team in goals with four, and his 17 points ranks eighth on the squad.
The Hopewell Junction, NY native spent his prior two seasons at Manhattanville College, where he scored 19 goals and added 13 assists in 47 total games. He set career highs across the board during the 2011-12 season, as he finished second on the team in goals and was named to the ECAC West All-Academic Team.

Fayetteville FireAntz forward Brian Elser was called up by Gwinett (ECHL) for the Gladiators' game in Charleston, S.C., on Tuesday night. Antz coach Mark DeSantis said that Elser, who has scored 17 points, will rejoin the Southern Professional Hockey League team Wednesday.
Fayetteville (18-10-2) hosts Louisiana (19-8-1) in a battle of first-place teams on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30.
