The AHL Rochester Americans have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Hunter Bishop to a (PTO) Professional Tryout Contract. Bishop is in his first season in the ECHL after signing with the South Carolina Stingrays on October, 1st 2012. In 38 games this season with South Carolina Bishop has collected (16-18-34). The Stingrays loaned Bishop to the AHL Lake Erie Monsters on January, 8th before returning to South Carolina on January, 18th. Bishop went pointless in three games with the Monsters.
Bishop played parts of the last three years with the ECHL Wheeling
Nailers & the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs before missing the entire 2011-12 season
with an undisclosed injury. Bishop played parts of three seasons in Vernon
(2005-2008). Bishop left Vernon after two seasons and played in just four games
at the University of North Dakota during the 2006-07 season before returning to
Vernon during the Christmas break playing the remainder of the 2006-07 season
playing his final season with the Vipers (2007-2008) before playing the next two
years at Ohio State University. In 140 regular season games with the Vipers
Bishop collected (93-84-177). On March. 18th 2010 the Montreal Canadiens signed
Bishop as a free agent to a two year contract. Bishop attended the Habs training
camp the last three seasons before being sent down to the American Hockey
League's Hamilton Bulldogs.

(Rochester, NY)… The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Hunter Bishop of the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) to a professional tryout.
Bishop, 25, has appeared in 38 games for South Carolina this season, recording 34 points (16+18) and 18 penalty minutes to tie for the team-lead in scoring. He has also played in three AHL games this season with the Lake Erie Monsters. In 2010-11, the native of Fairbanks, Alaska, appeared in 34 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, collecting eight points (4+4) and 10 penalty minutes, and also played nine games with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers. Prior to making his professional debut with Hamilton in 2009-10, when he recorded five points (2+3) in nine games with the Bulldogs, the 6-foot, 190-pound Bishop played two seasons at Ohio State University.
