(Game Preview) Vernon @ Prince George:

Tonight is the second meeting of the season between the Prince George Spruce Kings and the defending Royal Bank Cup Champion Vernon Vipers. The Vipers are riding a eleven game winning streak heading into the teams longest road trip of the season. Tonight is the third of a six game road trip for Vernon & the first of a three games in three nights up North. The Spruce Kings have two wins of the last eight games. Let’s take a look at the Vernon Vipers:

The Vipers currently sit atop the BCHL with a record of 18-1-0-0 riding an eleven game winning streak. Vernon comes into PG with a 9-0 road record. The Vipers have scored a league high 101 goals giving up a league low 32 goals. The Vipers have five players in the leagues top 20 in scoring. Mike Collins (12-18-30), Jonathan Milhouse (8-17-25), Dylan Walchuk (9-15-24), Braden Pimm (8-16-24) & Connor Jones (12-11-23) Both Graeme Gordon & Blake Voth lead the league as the leagues top two goaltenders. Gordon has a 14-1 record-shutout with a 1.59 GAA. Voth has a perfect 4-0 record-1 shutout with a 1.75 GAA Braden Pimm has points in nine straight games, Rob Short has points in eight straight games, Connor Jones & Kellen Jones have points in five straight games. Forwards, Connor & Kellen Jones are still out of the lineup as both twins are playing for Canada West at the Worl Junior A Challenge in PEI. Tonight is the first of three straight up North for the Vipers. Vernon cant take the 5th place Spruce Kings too lightly as PG has a handful of kids that can put the puck in the net. The Vipers need to get off to a good start and try not to fall behind early, with some bus legs it could be tough for the guys to try and pull out another come from behind win.

The Spruce Kings currently sit in 5th place with a record of 7-12-1-1 one point up on Merritt & Quesnel. Prince George is 3-6-1-0 in their last 10 games and are a dismal 2-9-1-0 on home ice. PG has scored 67 goals and have given up 86 goals against. The Spruce Kings have two players in the leagues top 20 in league scoring. Brooks Robinson (8-23-31) & Sam Muchalla (9-17-26) Prince George is 0-1 vs. Vernon this season but has some kids that can put the puck in the net. Starting off with Brooks Robinson (8-23-31), Sam Muchalla (9-17-26), Wes McLeod (5-13-18), Josh Pineiro (5-11-16) & Zac Rasmussen (6-9-15) Nick DeSousa has goals in his last two games. Wes McLeod has points in his last three games. The Spruce Kings will be looking for some revenge after dropping a 5-1 decision to the Vipers back on October 18th PG will have to try and stop Vernons speed, skill and depth up front and somehow try and get some offence going against the leagues best defensive team. Sunday, October 18th @ Prince George: Vernon won 5-1

The Vipers went up 3-0 on goals from, Connor Jones, Dylan Walchuk, & Bryce Kakoske before Sam Muchalla got PG on the board. Cory Kane & Braden Pimm finished off Vernons scoring giving them the 5-1 victory. The Vipers had period leads of 2-0 and 4-1. Connor Jones, Cory Kane, & Kellen Jones each had two point nights. Graeme Gordon made just 18 saves for the win. Alex Wright made 36 saves taking the loss. Vernon outshot Prince George 41-19.
