Summerside Western Capitals' general manager Gabe Keough was disappointed with Hockey Canada's decision to dismiss the city's bid to host the 2011 RBC Cup. But, he added, "not terrifically surprised".Hockey Canada cited the team's conduct at the 2009 RBC Cup in Victoria, B.C., as the reason for the dismissal. "They told us out there it wouldn't have anything to do with it, but in the end... someone else is going to get it," said Keough. Thunder Bay was in the running to host the event and also had its bid dismissed. The past season was a storybook one for the Capitals. They ended the 2008-09 regular season with a 39-13-0-2 record; won the MJAHL's Kent Cup, Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian championship and went 1-3, failing to qualify for the semifinals, at the RBC Cup in Victoria, B.C.But the fairytale ended when the Capitals were sent home early from Victoria amid rumours of the team's off-ice behaviour. The team confirmed there was an incident involving a damaged television. "It's certainly not something that helps you, for sure. I don't see us losing any fans," said Keough. "I see it as a challenge for us to ensure we are more on top of situations and try to avoid something like this happening again. It wasn't the team; it wasn't the majority of players."A new head coach will steer the team and determine player discipline and rules. "Every coach brings his own code of conduct," added Keough. He said the team and the city plan to show Hockey Canada "what kind of show we can put on" when they host November's World Junior 'A' Hockey Challenge. "We're just moving forward and trying to build a better team. That's our motto each year," added Keough. "It's like life. You can do 25 good things but when you do one that's less favourable, it gets the reaction."
