Day 1 Report From Vernon Vipers Spring ID Camp:

I stopped by Kal Tire Place North this evening to watch the final two games/scrimmages from opening day of Vipers Spring ID Camp.

Each game/scrimmage is three periods. The first two periods are twenty five minutes, with a 14 minute three on three 3rd period.

The first game saw Team Black defeated Team Red 7-6 in front of a fairly large crowd, while in the final game/scrimmage of the night saw Team Yellow defeat Team Green 6-3 in a much smaller crowd.

Vipers Head Coach Lukas Lomicky and Assistant Coaches Eric Morrissette/Dean McAmmond & owner John Glen were in attendance.

Not much to report. It's hard to follow the kids with no rosters/lineups. I did see a lot of kids that can skate, have some speed and a few skilled players as well.

At some point after the season ended, the Vipers should have made a statement/press release saying, the entire coaching staff will be back for the 2025-26 season. We have X amount of players that could return from the 2024-25 roster and a number of committed players that will be announced at a later date. Then through out the summer, the Vipers could release a new committed player every few weeks, to keep fans in the loop and up to date with the upcoming season instead of leaving us in the dark.

Why? Why do they need to let outsiders know what they’re doing?

They don't as long as those outsiders continue to buy tickets. Not peaking fan interest in the off season could lead to lack of interest during the season. This is why most teams provide little bits of information periodically leading up to training camp. Maybe in this case there is just no information to give.
