In a way I was a little surprised to see Carson McGinley traded. The Vipers signed McGinley January 11th 2024. McGinley had 9 points in 20 games with the Snakes last season, had 8 points in 17 games this season. I thought McGinley looked good on some night's but then didn't stand out on other night's. I was expecting McGinley to be one of the more offensive players this season. It looks like the Vipers are getting a veteran 19 year old defenceman in Gudridge who put up 25 points in the NAHL last season. Not the biggest kid but maybe can bring some offence to the Viper blueline/power play.

Since training camp, McGinley is the 14th player to be gone from the Vipers. I can't get over the amount of trades/roster moves the Vipers have made this season. I know the team has struggled and only has five wins but this is almost getting ridiculous. How is this team suppose to gel? How is the team suppose to play consistently with players coming and going in and out of the lineup. Look at how many recruited/committed players or players back from last season have been released/traded. The only other time I can remember lots of turnover with trades/roster moves was the 2015-16 season. I have said this many times before, this can't be good for recruiting. Look at the amount of committed players already gone this season. Word will get around, don't commit to the Vipers, you won't last two months before being released/traded. I get the fact that just because you have committed to a team, doesn't mean you will last the season but the amount of committed players or returning players gone this season already is pretty big.

I hope all these moves work out but as a player on the team you have to wonder am I next to go? Will we see anymore moves in a couple of days?

From the players’ perspective, at least you can take solice in knowing you aren’t Alene in the “turnover club” and you’re relieved of this ridiculous situation. It’s becoming a slap in the face to loyal fans. I keep wondering why they don’t fire the coaching staff but then I think, who would want the job at this point? Coach states a lack of scoring as an issue this year and then trades one of the best young forwards they have!
