It was difficult to get a good read on Mugaas who didn't play much and was often a scratch. The kid only played in nine games and went pointless. With the amount of turnover on defence and the Vipers roster, can you blame the kid for wanting to go somewhere else, where he will see some minutes and get the playing time he needs to develop.
This season has become a major disappointment. After the way the Vipers finished the 2023-24 regular season with Lukas Lomicky and Colton Sparrow taking over the bench from Jason McKee, I was really looking forward to this coming season.
Not only did the team play much better but ended the 2023-24 regular season with a winning record of 7-3-0-0. The team went on to defeat Trail in the first round of the playoffs in five games to a Smoke Eaters team that went 4-1 vs Vernon in the regular season. The Vipers then played hard and held there own but lost in the second round of the playoffs to Penticton in five games.
Let's face it, the Vipers didn't put together a good enough team on the ice for this season and it shows with poor recruiting, the amount of player turnover and only six wins on the season and near the bottom of the standings.
The Vipers looked good on paper when the season started but its been a disaster ever since. It seems like someone is either traded or released weekly. The roster changes weekly its hard to keep track anymore. The team has very little to no talent, no goal scorers, defensive troubles and poor consistency. The team looks real good one night then very poor the next. One night they score five or more goals, then can only score once or twice the next few games. I can't remember the last time a Vipers team only had six wins all season and only two wins at home this time of the year.
The Vipers don't have enough talent and rely on Landon MacDonald, Shea Busch and Will Schumacher to put the puck in the net. The Vipers need better players in there top group of forwards.
Poor recruiting seems to haunt this team the past five or six years. The Vipers can't seem to recruit/get the same quality of talent level teams like Penticton, Brooks, Salmon Arm or other top teams are getting.
Since training camp fourteen players are no longer with the Vipers.

I think the coaches rely on the wrong players too much and it shows on the scoreboard. Players seem to be defeated under his coaching . Those players you mentioned are not the talent on the team. Yes they get a lot of ice time but what do they do with that ice time? There should be results with that amount of ice. How are they on the defensive end? Can they think the game? Look at their whole game before you say they are the talent.
It’s curious isn’t it. My guess is that the two coaches showed us what they can do post McKee, before the owners took over this season and started puppeting. Hard to even know who is part of this mess when the owners don’t name a GM and are calling all the shots. Feel bad for these two young guys and the team with a revolving door that never gets to settle. How do you build consistency or a team identity when you have the rug pulled every 5 minutes as we have seen?
