LA Jr. Kings Name Former Vipers Head Coach/GM Ferner New Head Coach:

The LA Jr. Kings have named former Vernon Vipers Head Coach/GM

Mark Ferner new Head Coach.

Ferner spent the past four seasons coaching in Kelowna with RINK Hockey Academy.

Ferner played three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Junior Oilers/Kamloops Blazers from 1982-1985 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Rochester Americans in 1985 before making his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres in 1986. Ferner was drafted #21 by the Expansion Anaheim Mighty Ducks at the 1993 NHL Expansion Draft. Ferner played fourteen seasons in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League from 1985-2001 with nine different teams and parts of six seasons in the NHL with Buffalo, Washington, Detroit and Anaheim. 

Ferner got into coaching in 2000. Ferner joined the Vernon Vipers in 2007 after three seasons with the Western Hockey League Kamloops Blazers. Ferner spent nine seasons with the Vernon Vipers as Head Coach, General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations from 2007-2011 & 2014-2019. After four years with the Vipers Ferner left Vernon in 2011 for the Western Hockey League Everett Silvertips. After being let go in Everett, Ferner returned to Vernon in 2014 before his contract ended in 2019. Ferner spent the 2019-20 season as scout with the Buffalo Sabres before being fired after one season.
