I watched the Vipers game on FloHockey tonight. I thought the Vipers were the better team in the 1st but were down 2-0 early. Cranbrook was the better team in the 2nd. Both teams were fairly even in the 3rd. The Bucks get two huge wins over the Vipers this weekend to move 8 pts ahead of Vernon for the final playoff spot. The Snakes give up an early goal in the 1st and 2nd periods just like last night. The Bucks played well defensively and blocked a lot of shots. Vipers didn’t get nearly as many quality chances tonight compared to last night. Vernon goes 0-8 on the power play. Giving up a goal within the first few minutes of a period and doing it twice and always playing from behind isn’t a good way to play. It looked very small crowds in Cranbrook for both games. I was expecting bigger crowds with the Bucks in a playoff race. A very disappointing weekend as the Vipers lose both games. Judging by how well the Bucks have been playing since Christmas I didn’t think the Vipers would win a game this weekend. The Bucks have a better team and are playing their best hockey of the season. The Vipers lost their first nine games after Christmas, just aren’t good enough and been inconsistent all season. I have been saying for months, I didn’t think the Vipers would make the playoffs and this weekend may have proved that.
