That is kinda weird wording “for the upcoming season”.
on another note, it is a great way to sell more of those pretend programs.
With the internet/cell phones these days, a lot of Junior teams don't even make programs or hand out lineup sheets these days. Those days are long gone! I know the Kelowna Rockets haven't had programs since the mid 2000s and haven't handed out lineup sheets in years. I still enjoy purchasing a program/or lineup sheet at games, so I'm thankful the Vipers still do that.
Any relation to former Vernon Lakers captain Russell Gronick?
Russell Gronick also from Regina was captain of the 1994-95 Vernon Lakers.
Well here we go again, more roster moves. I have never seen the Vipers make this many roster moves in one season. I get trades/roster moves is a part of Junior Hockey but this season is getting ridiculous! The amount of turnover with the Vipers is crazy. I understand you need to replace players that up and leave and trades are a part of it, but how are the Vipers suppose to gel? grow as a team? build team chemistry on and off the ice, with new players coming and going weekly? How are you suppose to recruit when players you recruit are released a game or two into the season?
Gronick isn't the biggest kid but I like the idea of brining in a veteran 20 yr old forward with Major Junior hockey experience. Gronick put up not bad numbers the past two seasons with the Vancouver Giants. What I don't like is four teams in five seasons? Hmmmmm
I'm not a big fan of seeing the Vipers make a roster move every few days/or week. I guess I'm more old school and like when teams developed and groomed there teams/players and fans got to see there team/players develop, grow and improve as the season went on. This season it seems at least from the Vipers point, a new player is coming or going every few days/week. It's hard to follow your team these days with new players coming and going, not knowing who will be in the lineup next game. I find myself not nearly as connected to the team as I once was many years ago, when you could follow basically the same team (other then a few trades) from the start of the season until the season ended. I guess with the BC Hockey League on there own/independent and out of Hockey Canada and now most recently the new NCAA/Major Junior Hockey rules, your going to see players leaving Junior A teams & moving up to Major Junior Hockey, which will result in a higher turnover for Junior A teams/rosters, some more so then others. Fans like myself will have to adjust and get use to the new rules and get use to players jump to other leagues/teams on a more frequent basis.
The situation is becoming pathetic. As anyone who played can attest, there is no chance of developing team chemistry, and more importantly, a team identity, when the players spend most of their time learning names. This is not on the players because as you said, players signed/recruited and get benched or released after a few games. These coaches are clueless. With most of the young guys leaving, the worst part is the recruiting will be horrendous because no one will want to play here, for these coaches. They are really testing fan loyalty and it won’t last much longer.
Im sure next year will be a NORMAL year, after everythng has settled down.
Wow the Vipers have a different team from the start of the season with all these changes
