Thunder Trade Former Vipers Defenceman Shiplo To Jacksonville:

The ECHL Wichita Thunder have traded former Vernon Vipers defenceman Luke Shiplo to the Jacksonville Icemen.

Shiplo joins former Vernon Vipers forward Craig Martin who also plays for Jacksonville.

Shiplo spent the past four seasons at Quinnipiac University before signing his first professional contract with the Thunder July 17 2019. In 17 games this season with the Thunder, Shiplo recorded (1-goal-5-assists-6-points). 

Shiplo played one season in Vernon with the 2014-15 Vipers. In 50 games with the Vipers Shiplo collected (5-goals-39-assists-44-points).

Icemen Acquire Defenseman Luke Shiplo From Wichita

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose announced Monday that the team has acquired defenseman Luke Shiplo from the Wichita Thunder in exchange for future considerations.

Shiplo, 24, joins the Icemen after recording a goal and five assists in 17 games played with the Thunder this season.  The 5-10, 174-pound rookie blueliner totaled 29 points (13g, 16a) in 113 games during his four collegiate seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2015-2019.  The Oakville, Ontario native won an ECAC title with Quinnipiac in 2016.
