January 23, 2019

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers are very pleased to announce that Josh Latta has committed to play NCAA Div 1 Hockey at the University of Alabama-Huntsville for next season.

The four year BCHL veteran is in the midst of a career season with 17 goals and 14 assists, tied for team lead in points with 31.

“It’s a very exciting time in my life right now.  This is something I’ve worked so hard at to achieve over the last 3 years and to have my dream finally come true is really an incredible feeling,” says Latta.  The West Vancouver product says that family, friend and the Vipers have kept him driven  through the ups and downs.

“This couldn’t be more of a well deserved scholarship,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Mark Ferner.  “Not only are they getting a very competitive, committed player, but they’re also getting an outstanding young man.  We are extremely happy for Josh and his family.

Latta will play in his 125th BCHL regular season game Friday night in Nanaimo  and says with the commitment now behind him, he’s looking forward to a strong rest of the season and playoffs with the Vipers.

The Vipers begin a 3 game island road swing Friday night at the Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo.
