The Providence Friars mens college hockey team has named former Vernon Vipers forward Kyle Murphy coordinator of men’s ice hockey operations. After two years at Providence College Murphy spent last season with the GET-ligaen Manglerud Star. The Star is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in from Oslo, Norway. In 36 games with the Star, Murphy collected (24-goals-28-assists-52-points). Murphy spent the 2009-2010 season with the University of Notre Dame before leaving school to join the Vipers. Murphy played one season in Vernon (2010-2011) before returning to school, finishing two years with Providence. In 58 games with the Vipers Murphy collected (18-25-43).

Providence has hired Kyle Murphy as the coordinator of men’s ice hockey operations. Murphy, a 2013 graduate of Providence, returns to the Friars after captaining the squad during the 2012-13 season and winning the 2013 Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award.
